Biofuels

Biofuels are a renewable source of transportation fuel made from domestic agricultural products. Monsanto is actively involved in helping promote and encourage the use of biofuels and other types of bioenergy.

Monsanto UK is a member of North East Biofuels, a cluster based in North East England promoting the development of biofuels in the region, including the establishment of biodiesel production from Oilseeds, such as rapeseed.

Monsanto is also working with Wessex Grain (contact enquiries@wessexgrain.co.uk ) who are aiming develop bio-ethanol production from wheat grain and other sources of starch.

In the USA, Monsanto are major suppliers of Processor Preferred ® corn varieties for the rapidly-growing fuel ethanol industry, which now produces over 2.8 Billion Gallons of fuel ethanol annually (see Processor Preferred Corn - Highly Fermentable Corn).
